The Sports Excellence Center operates under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopaedic Surgical Department of Medical School of the University of Athens (NKUA).
About Sports Excellence
- Sports Excellence Center is a high performance sports center, a member of the World Association of Sport Performance Centers (ASPC), since 2017.
- ΥIt supports therapeutic exercise programs for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases at all ages to improve the living conditions of people (special populations).
- West Attica project: Prevention and promotion of health in primary school students of West Attica. Prevention of obesity, spine problems, improvement of physical abilities.
- A program for the assessment of motor and learning difficulties of children of pre-school age and for the training and evaluation of teachers.
- Vulnerable groups: Exercise programs are implemented for patients with diabetes, heart failure, neoplastic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, osteoporosis, and mental disorders, at the Attikon University Hospital, at the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center and in various Open Care Centers for the Elderly of Attica, on remote islands and in remote areas of Greece.
- Sports for all: Exercise for children with mental and physical disabilities in kindergartens and special schools.
- The program promotes the cooperation and exchange of scientific knowledge with academic or research institutions of the country or abroad for the exchange and dissemination of knowledge and applications.
- Promotes the conduct of basic and applied research for the recording, evaluation and provision of advisory interventions in elite sports, in mass and amateur level athletes and vulnerable groups.
- SE actively participates in the planning and implementation of master’s and doctoral theses, giving students the opportunity to practice the theory of sports performance and the health improvement of trainees. SE communicates with the scientific community through publications at prestigious scientific research journals and through oral presentations at conferences.
- The Sports Excellence Center operates under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopaedic Surgical Department of Medical School of the University of Athens (NKUA).
The program is implemented with an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
Regeneration and Progress (R&P)
A civil non-profit-making organization which designs and implements, free of charge, a series of actions in the fields of Health, Sports and Education, with the exclusive financial support of Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
In the field of Sports, the Sports Excellence Program (SE) which operates under the scientific supervision of the 1st Orthopaedic Surgical Department of Medical School of the University of Athens (NKUA), holds a special postion. It’s actions aim at the ongoing support and evolution of young elite sport athletes as well as the lifelong scientific advancement of those around them (coaches, parents, administrative and training staff.
