During the annual European Forum of the Association of Sports Performance Centers (ASPC), held on 14-17 January 2018 in Magglingen, Switzerland, the head of Sports Excellence and Assistant Professor, 1st Orthopedic Clinic at the Medical School University of Athens, Mr. Koulouvaris Panagiotis and the head of the European Center of the Australian Institute of Sports, Mr Forbes Warwick, have made a cooperation agreement.
The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) was created in 1981 to boost championship in Australia after the Australians failed to win even one gold medal at the 1976 Olympic Games, and has since been the contributor to the Australian Institute of Sport. success of Australian Athletes in International Competitions (Olympic Games & World Championships). It was the model on which the High Sports Centers were designed and operated around the world.
The European Center is another Australian innovation to offer Australian athletes better training, acclimatization and minimization of travel during the Northern Hemisphere summer season where most international events take place in Europe.
The A ‘Orthopedic Clinic of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Sports Excellence is an officially recognized partner of the Australian Institute of Sport from 16 April 2018 to 31 December 2020 and have the honor and responsibility to contribute to the best scientific and athletic support for Australian athletes by providing Australian athletes in Europe with “Medical, Diagnostic and Athletic Science Services”.
Our staff will also be able to:
- Participate in the scientific conferences organized by the European Center.
- Access the AIS scientific innovation by following up-to-date surveys and gaining access to very important information.
This provides continuous training and briefing of Sports Excellence executives on scientific issues of support for high sport athletes.
This collaboration is yet another success for Greek sports and make all Sports Excellence staff proud and at the same time fill them with responsibility in their effort of daily upgrading the level of scientific support of Greek athletes, coaches and teams.
